Currn Privacy Policy

Currn ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how Currn Labs, Inc. collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our mobile applications and related services (the "Service").

Currn is operated by Currn Labs, Inc., a Delaware corporation located at 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713.

2. Information we collect

We collect information necessary to provide, personalize, and improve our NCLEX licensure exam preparation app.

2.1 Information you provide directly

• Account details: When you link or register an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you use Currn anonymously (without signing up), we generate an anonymous identifier on your device without collecting your name or email.
• AI Coach messages: When you ask questions to Currn's AI Coach, we process the questions, queries, and study concepts you submit.
• Feedback and support: Messages, bug reports, and feedback you send to our support team.

2.2 Information generated while studying

• Study progress & quiz history: Your answers to practice questions, selected options, completion timestamps, session summaries, flashcard reviews, and daily study plan progress.
• Readiness metrics: Algorithmic estimates of your category mastery and exam readiness calculated from your question history.

2.3 Information collected automatically

• Device and diagnostic information: Device model, operating system version, app version, language settings, and device attestation tokens (via Firebase App Check) used to secure our servers against automated abuse.
• Crash reports and error logs: Application stack traces, fatal crash logs, and caught non-fatal exception details collected through Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose software bugs, assess application stability, and resolve defects.
• Usage and analytics data: App interactions, feature usage, and navigation events collected through Google Analytics for Firebase to help us understand how candidates use the app.
• Transaction identifiers: When you purchase an access window, Apple or Google processes your payment. We receive and store only cryptographic transaction receipts and product identifiers (via RevenueCat) to unlock your access. We never receive, process, or store your payment card numbers.

3. How we use your information

• Delivering the prep service: Administering question banks, calculating scores, generating adaptive simulations, and maintaining study streaks.
• Providing AI tutoring: Processing your specific study questions and generating explanations grounded in authored clinical rationales.
• Syncing progress: Synchronizing study history across devices for paid accounts.
• Account security & fraud prevention: Enforcing usage quotas, validating store receipts, and securing our infrastructure against unauthorized access.
• Customer support: Assisting with technical issues, restore requests, and pass guarantee inquiries.

4. Artificial intelligence and model training disclosures

Currn includes an AI Coach feature powered by Google Gemini models via Firebase AI Logic.

• Prompt processing: The questions you submit to the coach, along with the relevant question stem and rationale, are transmitted to Google's cloud infrastructure to generate an educational response in real time. Prompts may be temporarily retained by cloud infrastructure systems for up to 30 days solely for system reliability, abuse prevention, and security monitoring.
• No model training: Your personal study data, coach conversation history, and prompt inputs are not used by us or by our infrastructure providers to train public or foundation machine learning models.
• Safety notice: The AI coach is an educational study aid, not a clinician. Never enter real patient names, protected health information (PHI), or confidential clinical records into the AI coach.

5. Third-party service providers

We share information only with service providers that help us deliver Currn, bound by data protection obligations:

• Google Cloud Platform & Firebase: Cloud Firestore database, Firebase Authentication, Cloud Storage, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics (crash and stability diagnostics), App Check, and Firebase AI Logic.
• RevenueCat: In-app purchase receipt verification and subscription status management.
• Apple App Store & Google Play: In-app purchase processing and platform distribution.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties, and we do not share your data for behavioral cross-context advertising.

6. Data retention and account deletion

6.1 In-app account deletion (Apple Guideline 5.1.1(v))

You have full control over your data. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app:

1. Open Currn.
2. Tap the Account icon in the Home screen navigation bar.
3. Select Delete Account and confirm.

What happens on deletion:

• Your authentication profile in Firebase Authentication is permanently deleted.
• Your user document, quiz session history, item mastery shards, daily plans, and referral records are purged immediately from active Cloud Firestore databases.
• Device-local progress caches are deleted.
• Active account deletion is immediate and irreversible. Secure system backup archives and encrypted database snapshots are automatically and permanently purged within up to 30 days in accordance with our standard backup lifecycle.

6.2 Data retention for expired accounts

If your paid access window expires, we retain your study records for up to 24 months so you can resume your preparation if you return. You may delete your data sooner at any time using the in-app deletion button described above.

7. Your privacy rights and statutory disclosures

Depending on where you live (including California, Virginia, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Canada), you may have statutory rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to know / access: You can request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.
• Right to delete: You can request erasure of your data at any time in-app or by emailing privacy@currn.app.
• Right to correct: You can update your display name and email address.
• Right to non-discrimination: We will not deny service or charge different prices for exercising your privacy rights.

7.1 Notice of Financial Incentive (California CCPA/CPRA)

Currn offers a referral program allowing candidates to receive extended trial access (14 days instead of 7) and earn a discount on a 180-day Pro plan by sharing a referral code with peers. To participate, you share your code, and the invited candidate links an account. We process referral records solely to administer the reward. We do not assign a monetary value to personal information; the value of the discount or extended trial reflects our reasonable good-faith estimate of the value of acquiring a new candidate to the platform. You may withdraw from the referral program at any time simply by refraining from sharing your code.

7.2 Legal bases for processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

• Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): Delivering the question bank, generating simulations, calculating readiness scores, syncing paid accounts, and providing customer support.
• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): Securing our infrastructure via Firebase App Check, monitoring against abuse, analyzing aggregated app performance via Firebase Analytics, diagnosing crashes and stability issues via Firebase Crashlytics, and improving study tools.
• Compliance with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)): Retaining transaction records for accounting, tax, and regulatory compliance.

8. Children's privacy

Currn is designed for adult nursing candidates and nursing students preparing for professional licensure. The minimum age to use Currn is 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect or maintain personal information from individuals under 18. If we discover that a user under 18 has registered or provided personal information, we will promptly delete that information.

9. Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you in the app and update the effective date at the top of this page.
